I bear some bad news. I looked into some of the possibilities and discussed
this issue with other developers. This dependency was added last October 2012
and is likely here to stay. Unfortunately, that means that ImageVis3D 3.0 +
will no longer be compatible with Windows XP. As such, we've decided to drop
support for Windows XP starting with ImageVis3D 3.0.
