The ImageVis3D team is proud to announce the release of ImageVis3D
3.1.0!

ImageVis3D is a desktop volume rendering application which was designed
to visualize large data. Support is available for multiple rendering
modes, such as 1D and 2D transfer functions, isosurface rendering,
as well as specialized modes such as MIP and slice views. On modern
systems, ImageVis3D's GPU-accelerated rendering delivers incredible
performance, while compatibility options exist to allow ImageVis3D to
perform adequately on older systems.

ImageVis3D 3.1.0 is a minor release, with a focus on bug fixing,
but we still snuck in a few features. We highly recommend all
users update immediately, as ImageVis3D 3.0.0 had a serious bug
that caused it to create invalid .uvf files!

Changes since 3.0.0 include:

New Features
------------

* Added the ability to (losslessly) compress data.

* The command line converter can now export data as well as import.

* Added a converter for legacy VTK files.

Bugs fixed in this release
--------------------------

* Fixed issue exporting data to IV3D mobile.

* Fixed Mac-only issue which would cause IV3D to forget giving output
files a proper extension.

* Fixed Linux/Mac issue with IV3D leaving stale files in the event of
a crash during conversion.

* Fixed UVF corruption when saving new rescale values to UVF.

* Fixed issue which set invalid metadata in converted UVF files.

* Fixed bug quantizing 16bit data.

* Fixed crash if an error occurred while exporting an image stack.

* Fix detection of JPEG2k versus lossless JPEG in DICOM files.

* Fix FBO memory requirements calculation.

Known issues with this release
------------------------------

* There is a known issue converting color data in a single TIFF file.

* The 'Stack' ("stk"), single-file TIFF volume, and Fraunhofer EZRT
("rek") file formats can only be read, not written.

* The 'Brick Of Values' (BOV) reader does not support BOVs in which
the data are split across multiple files.

* Full-color data sets do not display a proper histogram in the
transfer function editors.

* In any mode but MIP, the 'Recorder' always uses the highest resolution
data, regardless of any other settings.

* In the "Disable LOD" mode of MIP Recordings, progress information
is not given. Progress is being made; a visibly-correct rendering is
not required to create an on-disk image which is correct.

ImageVis3D 3.1.0 supports Intel Macs 10.8 and up (10.9.2 recommended),
Windows, and Linux. Binaries are available at:
