Hi Mark,

Hi All,

I am interested in running ImageVis3D on a cloud server to process a stack of
image segments and then returning the dataset to a mobile device for display.

In order to do that, I need a command line version of both ImageVis3D and the
IV3Dm Data Server. Does such a thing exist? The server part is probably quite
easy, the command line options for ImageVis3D might be a little more involved.
Does anyone have an opinion about the usefulness of such an effort? It would
be worthwhile to me and I am willing to extend some resources to achieve it if
others agree that it could be a generally useful feature.

You are looking for the command line data converter of ImageVis3D. It´s called
"uvfconvert“ and it ships with the IV3D distributions available on the SCI website:

Just convert your data to the working directory of a IV3Dm data server instance
and you’ll be able to access your data from your mobile devices.

I updated the binaries on our webpage for you to include a command line version
of the IV3Dm data server. It will serve the data found in its working directory. The
first argument is the port if you want to specify a non-default value.
For OS X the binary is located inside the app bundle:
IV3DmDataServerGui.app/Contents/MacOS/IV3DmDataServer
Accordingly the binary location of “uvfconvert” is:
uvfconvert.app/Contents/MacOS/uvfconvert

Gui & command line IV3Dm data server versions:

Ideally, I would really like the enterprise data server with push notification
as well (which I asked about in a previous post). But this is secondary as the
personal server works fine.

The enterprise server is currently only available for our collaborators.
If you are interested in doing a research project with us we can discuss that offline.

Mark

Cheers,
Alex
