Hi gang. Apologies for an off-topic message, but this list has all
the right people on it. Erik Brunvand, Al Davis, Steve and I are
writing a proposal to build ray tracing hardware and sending it to NSF.
Three questions:
1. Can somebody (Abe?) send me a screenshot of the Boeing model that
given an idea of complexity? Maybe this takes two images with
a close-up and an image of the whole model.
2. How many ray-segments per second can manta trace on the thing (this is
using the Intel terminology that I like-- a viewing ray and two
shadow rays per pixel would be "three ray segments per second")?
3. How many triangles are in the model?
4. If you would like to read the intro and motivation, send me email
and I'll send you the draft.
Thanks,
Pete
PS-- I am in the middle of driving from Utah to Chicago. For $20, you
can get a month of wireless access to this:

Pretty sweet. Also saw a wireless rest area. Hope that is a trend!
