Well, you've got me stumped. I'm bouncing this back to the list, but I'm not confident any of us will be able to deduce what's wrong with your setup.
Sorry,

You sure? Some email clients will just take attached text files and put them at the bottom of the email. In fact, I just checked and your reply had in fact done that :-)

Let's try something easy. Open up a terminal, go to the attached file and run:
g++ test.cc -o testExecutable && testExecutable
If it prints out some stuff, then you can at least compile rudimentary programs. If not, then you have some underlying problems not related to manta.

I havent tried compiling anything else on this computer, Do you know of any thing that may be similar to manta that i should try to compile#include <iostream>

I'm afraid you've got me stumped. This has worked for everyone else in the past, so you must be doing something different. Can you compile other programs?

I installed X11, still doesnt work. The about.h file that it says "no such file or directory"... i can go to the directory and it is there, so why do you think it doesnt think it is there?

SCIRun is no longer used by manta. I just updated the wiki to reflect that. Did you also install X11 as James suggested? It's on the osx dvd. If you have, you can start X11 by going to Applications/Utilities/X11.app. If you can't, then you don't have X11.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the developer tools with the whole package just to make sure.
I downloaded subversion 1.5 from subversion.tigris.org
I am on the same machine that I downloaded the source from
Im redoing everything right now, step by, one thing i noticed after checking out the source was the wiki says something about SCIRun containing things, is that supposed to be in the Manta directory because i did an ls and it doesnt show up, but the other files do.

I talked with Abe and we thought it might be a lack of X libraries and
headers installed, though I thought CMake would have picked that up.
The other thing I can think of, is a lack of svn on the machine.
About.cc is a special file created by running a svn command to pull
out information about the code checked out. I'm wondering if
something is going wrong with that.
How were the files check out?
Were they checked out from the same machine that you are trying to build on?
Did someone give you a copy of the source that you are trying to build?

when you mount the dmg file it has lots of packages listed. You want to
install the main package that installs all the other ones. If you just
install one of them, such as the gcc package, that might cause the problems.
Did you read the readme and follow their directions?

You shouldn't need leopard. I was developing on tiger up until March or
so.
I downloaded the developers kit off of Apple's web site. I've never
installed it from the DVD.

What version of the dev tools are people using, 2.5 or 3.0? Im using osx

just
get it.
Thanks for the help...

My guess is that Mat's system is missing part of the complier. He
mentioned that he downloaded the developer toolkit from apple, instead of
installing it from the second DVD, has anyone else tried this before?
