Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to get more information as to the Camera Path files (.path)
that can be used in SCIRun to determine the path of a camera as it records a
movie. However, I've not been able to see any example files either in SCIRun
or
through the internet. Does anyone have any idea how to write a .path file or
where I could find an example file?

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Nicolas J. Dedual

Nicolas,

You want to use the SCIRun->Render->EditPath module, which provides an interface to create new and edit existing paths. That being said, EditPath has little documentation, many bugs, and is hard to use. But, we have plans to improve the interface, stability, and documentation for the next major release (1.26.0).

The easiest way to use EditPath is to connect the geometry output to a SCIRun->Render->Viewer module. The 'Make Circle' button on the module will create a path in a circle around the currently viewed object. After the path is created, use the 'Run' button to play back the views along the path.

Another mode is to use 'Add View', which grabs the current view from the connected viewer. You can setup keyframes this way that are interpolated between when the 'Run' button is pressed.

As far as saving and loading .path files, use the input and output ports of EditPath with the SCIRun->DataIO->PathReader and SCIRun->DataIO->PathWriter modules, respectively.

If you have any more specific questions on EditPath, I'll be glad to answer your questions.

Regards,

-McKay Davis
