Shi Jin, hi,
As far as I know there is nothing now implemented in SCIRun to model the
diffusion equation directly. You might be able to use either the finite
element or boundary element modules to build such a model, but I have
not thought carefully about it and I have some doubts it would be a
trivial task --- that is, I think it would probably require more than
just connecting existing modules together. On the other hand, if you
have other code, or can get other code, to do the basic modeling (for
instance, the EIDOR project, written in Matlab, might be useful), then
you might be able to connect to it through SCIRun's interface mechanisms
such as the MatlabInterface module. We have used a similar approach with
EIDOR to use its finite element solution for EIT with advanced electrode
boundary conditions.
We do have collaborators interested in modeling diffusion of light in
tissue with SCIRun and I think we will add this capability, but it may
not be for quite some time ...
