Dear SCIRun Users,

We are very pleased to announce a new release of SCIRun/BioPSE: Version 3.0.0!

This is a major release and includes a long list of new features.  As part of this release we have begun migrating all of our SCIRun documentation to our Wiki -- this will allow us to continually revise and improve our documentation, even after a release.  One very important page on our documentation Wiki is the new SCIRun Installation Guide, which will assist you in downloading and installing this "source only" version of SCIRun (no binaries this time) --

For those of you using Windows XP, we have great news -- SCIRun 3.0.0 is now fully supported on Windows!  (Of course, SCIRun is also still fully supported on Mac OSX 10.4, and a bunch of 32- and 64-bit versions of Linux.) There are complete instructions on how to install SCIRun on Windows (and on OSX and Linux) in the Installation Guide linked above.

Another major feature of this release is our Seg3D volumetric segmentation application.  Seg3D provides an intuitive interface to a powerful suite of segmentation tools.  A binary version of Seg3D (for Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX) is available -- see the above Installation Guide for a link to the download.

For a complete list of the new major features available in SCIRun 3.0, please see our Release Notes:

and for more information on SCIRun and all of our PowerApps (including Seg3D), check out our main SCIRun documentation page:

As always, the latest version of SCIRun/BioPSE can be downloaded from the SCI Institute's software web page:

If you have any questions, please feel free to send us email.  You can email scirun-users@sci.utah.edu with general SCIRun questions or scirun-develop@sci.utah.edu with any specific SCIRun problems.

We hope you enjoy SCIRun/BioPSE 3.0.0!

Sincerely,
David Weinstein
