Lots of progress...
make is in 70% or so...  using a soft link ln -s , I just put the X11 directory into the src/.../glew directory, and that was good.   Later with another tool...gdcm...one file has a SunOs preprocessor statement that had been removed.  Now I'm stuck at boost/python.

Perhaps it's going to be too tough and I should try XP...

Thanks.  I found that the typedef modification improved the compilation.  There is now no error, but instead an (unrelated) issue is that in making, the Xlib files are not found, so presently I am using cmake -i with the "advanced options"  to give full paths to all the X-files ;-), and it's a bit tricky.

Hi Chris,

I've generated a patch for your code, which should define the missing symbol for you using uint32_t (it looks like u_int32_t is an old BSD type).
Save the patch file to your Seg3D2 directory and use patch level -p0 or --strip=0 to apply the patch. If this works for you, I'll add the fix to the Subversion repository and make it available in the next release.

Hi Ayla,

Here is what I discovered in CMakeCache and the man pages for types.h and types32.h,

CMakeCache:
//Have include sys/types.h
HAVE_SYS_TYPES_H:INTERNAL=1

I found not a listing for u_int32_t in the header files but similar things, i.e., uint32_t  or uint_t....

Hi Chris,

The missing type u_int32_t is defined in a types.h header file on Linux and OS X - frequently either in sys/types.h or in an architecture-specific types.h header included in sys/types.h. If the header has been found, you will find an entry in the Seg3d2 bin/CMakeCache.txt file that will look something like:

//Have include sys/types.h
HAVE_SYS_TYPES_H:INTERNAL=1

Please check your bin/CMakeCache.txt file and let me know what HAVE_SYS_TYPES_H is set to. Also, if sys/types.h has been detected, please check the appropriate types.h header(s) to see if u_int32_t is typedef'd or defined.

Thanks,

Ayla

Here is info for Seg3d on Solaris.

By the way, I am curious for Seg3D because I have an x-ray of my body in DICOM and I have some experience in geometry so to know better.

This is OpenSolaris installed in 2007 approximately

Hi Chris,

Can you please send the Seg3D version you are building, the OS version, the compiler output, compiler and version information? If there isn't much detail, you can enable verbose make output by configuring the make build again using cmake in the Seg3D bin directory:

 cmake -DCMAKE_VERBOSE_MAKEFILE:BOOL=ON ../src

We don't have any Solaris machines here - we generally work with and test on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows, but given enough information about your system we may be able to figure out your build problem.

Thanks,

Ayla
