Yes, I've been in discussion with Aaron about this. He needs it for the paper deadline, so I told him to put it in a branch. Next week, we can take a closer look at this and do it *right*. ;)

There is a solid wall between the Manta engine and the GUI-- we've been able to accomplish almost everything using transactions and callbacks. I'm sure we can perform all of these operations using existing mechanisms (for example, there are several animation callbacks), after your deadline.
