Hi Michael,

I just logged a similar bug for version 1.8, however it does not happen during painting anymore. For a lot of filters we do not let the user know the program is doing something, we should fix this.

The other thing is, that in the latest version, the program does not become unresponsive, however it crashes at that point in the code (I think). See bug report with stack traces. I think this is a threading issue, but should not be hard to fix.

Can you give fixing the bug during painting highest priority, as with the old version it hangs and with the latest version it crashes, it should not be hard to fix it. The crash is in the function glIsTexture, probably we assigning it a zero pointer.
