in Core/Algorithms/Math and one in
Packages/BioPSE/Core/Algorithms/NumApproximation.  It looks like the
one in Core/Algorithms/Math is the one being used currently, is this
correct?

Yes, that is right the Packages/BioPSE/Core/Algorithms/ NumApproximation are on the list to be removed from the code.
The new code is currently in Core/Algorithms/Math
