Hello Scirun-Users!
I want to visualize a tensor and a vector field (tetrahedra mesh) with
some 100k elements. Both it is too hard for my computer and it would
look much better if there where less elements shown. What is the best
way to show only a couple of elements?
Thanks in advance
Thomas
homas,
There are many alternatives. If you have access to Mathematica 7, one
of the areas of improvement is the depiction of vector fields using
either LIC (Line integral convolution to generate a texture of all
streamline segments), artistic placement of glyphs following along the
lines of David Laidlaw's work, or some simpler and less accurate
subsampling strategy.
This is a topic I have been pursuing for some time and i have been
looking for some good, large data sets upon which to test. So, if you
are interested in a more experimental approach, contact me off line.
Other SciRunnners are welcome to collaborate, criticize or be
contumacious as one's mood and desires dictate.
