Hello,

My name is Brandon Boyle and I am part of a research team at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.  We are researching different properties of tumors, including volume and size variability, and came across your program, Seg3D.

I am working with Seg3D version 2.2.1, and have become familiar with the segmentation tools, and have successfully created a volume of a tumor.  I understand that if you click the "i" information tab under a layer, an option comes up to calculate the "volume, and the "pixel" count.

We are working with DICOM MRI images of the brain, are looking for a way to convert the volume and pixel numbers back into an actual volumetric unit, so that we can perform further analysis on the data.  We are unsure whether the volume number given is an arbitrary number based on the file, or if it the volume of voxels within the isosurface, and also whether each pixel/voxel has a consistent conversion rate (i.e. 1 voxel = 1 mm^3).

If you could help on any of these fronts or provide any insight on this part of the program, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Brandon Boyle
