Dear ShapeWorks Users,
In the last few months, we have been tirelessly working to improve our software and the associated use cases. The new release include the following new/improved features that we believe will help you enjoy your experience with ShapeWorks even more.
New in ShapeWorks 5.3.0!
ShapeWorks consolidated commands:
- Added commands to the shapeworks executable to quantitatively evaluate shape models: read-particle-system, compactness, generalization, specificity.
- Added new shapeworks executables commands for data grooming (preprocessing): read-image, write-image, antialias, isoresample, binarize, recenter-image, pad.
Studio: Replaced bar chart with explained variance chart and scree plot, more interpretable plots.
Use cases:
- Updated femur use case with interactive cutting plane for constrained particle distribution (defining region-of-interest for statistical modeling and analysis).
- Added fixed domains use case that demonstrates adding a single shape to an existing shape model.
- Added ellipsoid evaluation use case that demonstrates quantitative evaluation of the ellipsoid shape model.
Software build (for developers):
- Improved build documentation (see BUILD.md).
- Separate build_dependencies script from ShapeWorks build (see BUILD.md).
ShapeWorks monthly users get-together will be held on Thursday, March 5th at 11am. This get-together will be a user-centric meeting with an open discussion with ShapeWorks end-users that will include Q&A, feature requests, tutorial-type discussions, and comments/feedback/suggestions for the new release. We also encourage you to bring your shape modeling story (use case) to the table to discuss how to customize ShapeWorks for your own use case.
When: Thursdays every four weeks starting August 15th (there has been one week shift due to new year) from 11am to 1pm MDT.
Where: WEB 2760 (Meldrum conference room)
Joining in person: Lunch will be ordered with vegetarian and gluten free options. Please let me know if you have any other diet restrictions.
Please let me know if you are going to join in person by Monday March 2nd EOD to sort out logistics for lunch. Thanks!
Can’t join in person: Below is a recurring zoom invitation for the meeting, please feel free to join remotely if this is more convenient …
