"c" is good, x, y, z labels would be great. Values at the corners might be
enough for scale.  Tics are good, but a 3-d grid can also be very good.

Here is something though, that is really important:

        Is there a way to output the view to a flat graphics file (c.f. png,
jpg, gif, etc.)?

You can get the overall domain's boundaries by checking the "Global
Bounding Box" in the "Rendering Options" tool widget.  As Jens just
mentioned, you can popup a coordinate cross with "c".

I imagine you were looking for something like tick marks though.
Unfortunately IV3D can't do that at the moment, though it wouldn't be
too terrible to add.
