Are you on Ubuntu 9.10 by any chance?  There's a known issue w/ the
binaries there, and the sympton is they segfault on startup.

Use the PPA on Ubuntu (or any debian-derivative, for that matter).

Use `qmake -recursive'.  I'll update the wiki.

Still should have worked though.  Did you somehow not checkout the
svn:externals, and only the root project?
