To see the failed compile information, look in
config.log,
search for BLAS. Please install the relevant
libraries
or specify the correct paths and try to configure
again.
It's a little confusing because it claims that the
libraries are optional and then won't proceed. I
looked on my machine and I don't have anything
remotely like a blas library. What is it, do I need
it, and how do I get it?
The BLAS library handles basic linear algebra support, hence the name. It is standard on many architectures, available as source code for everything, and can be optimized using a system called Atlas. We will discuss this all in the upcoming workshop (Now, aren't you glad you are coming and don't the rest of you want to change your minds and sign up immediately?) as the Atlas support is something new for SCIRun.
I am, however, surprised that the system balked without it. I'll let one of our developer gurus answer that one!
In the meantime, BLAS is available from netlib at
http://www.netlib.org/blas/index.html
Cheers,
Rob
