i tried to use matlab interface module

here is the error message in the command window

Assembler messages:
FATAL: can't create transport.o: Permission denied

   mex: compile of 'transport.c' failed.

??? Error using ==> mex
Unable to complete successfully

Error in ==> /usr/local/SCIRun/bin/matlab/engine/mlabengine.m
On line 28  ==>  mex transport.c
/usr/local/SCIRun/src/Packages/MatlabInterface/Core/Util/bring.c

i had given complete write permission for the entire path

my scirun version is 1.20, os redhat 9, matlab release 12.

please help rectify this prob it is very urgent and the most necessity for now
