Alan,

Thanks for the clarification. I'm building and testing the github version on a small dataset. Josh's ITK module looks promising and I'm looking forward to see a stable version available.

Best,
Wei

Wei,

I will try to explain.

The github version is the most up to date ready to go version of the code.

The Josh Cates ITK module is the future of the optimization portion that we will eventually move to.  It is built as an ITK 4 module.

The ShapeWorks Remote application is a client/server system that uses the current github version to perform its operations.  It is designed to allow a user to run the optimization code on a big server with lots of memory while being remote.

Liz,

Thanks for the reply. I did have a successful build of the github code with all options off, though the difference between the github version, Josh Cates ITK module version, and SCI website "remote" version remains a mystery to me.

I guess the github version is a good starting point, hence the build error...

Best,
Wei

Hi Wei,

Sorry for the delay.  But it looks like you've figure out that you needed to build the binary for linux.  We'll see if we can figure out your build problem shortly.

Hi ShapeWorks developers (Hi Liz!),

I'm trying to download ShapeWorks binary for 64 bit Linux (Opensuse 13.1) but could not find it in SCI website (http://www.sci.utah.edu/download/shapeworks). I vaguely remember there is such binary command line tools available a while ago, but now I can only download the windows and Mac version of ShapeWorks remote.

Also I found the current binary is in a Client-Server mode. Does it mean this is the only way of running ShapeWorks, and the previous command line tool has been obsolete?

I've also heard of the source code repository at ( https://github.com/SCIInstitute/shapeworks) but could not find binary of it, or the instruction of building the source. And it seems the source has not been updated for sometime, which let me think the development may happen somewhere else.

So, my question is what is the best way to run ShapeWorks under Linux, for both the stable version and the development version?

Thanks,
Wei
