I am having problems getting SCIRun working. I just compiled the 3.0.x
development branch with Insight.
Details of the steps I took are on my user page on the wiki:
http://software.sci.utah.edu/SCIRunDocs/index.php/User:Ian
It seemed to compile, and the executable loads, but every time I try to
open the visualization window I get a segmentation fault:
Adding SCI extensions to tcl: OpenGL widget, bevel widget, range
widget, cursor, Done.
scirun> Thread "TCL main event loop"(pid 2788) caught signal SIGSEGV at
address (nil) (segmentation violation)
I am running kubuntu using an on-board video card (driver listed as
i810, FWIW) in an HP Intel Core2 Duo.
I am completely stuck at this point, because
1) my compile/build skills are incredibly rusty
2) there are informative error messages or error logs that point me
towards the problem.
Can anyone shed some light on what might be the problem, or even where
I can look to find the problem myself?
Since the compilation process takes so long to complete, it's
incredibly hard to troubleshoot by trial and error.
Perhaps we could put a "troubleshooting" page on the wiki where common
symptoms can be posted, along with their solutions?
Thanks,
ian
